Blue Hill at Stone Barns

FG's pick:

When the President and First Lady came to our city for date night, they ate at Blue Hill on Washington Place (you can read all about the date on the hilarious blog Obama Foodorama). The ingredients come from nearby farms including Blue Hill at Stone Barns, which is only 45 minutes away.

Hop a train from Grand Central to Tarrytown and then take a 10 minute cab to Blue Hill at Stone Barns for a great farm/dining experience. They have two dinner seatings - we recommend the earlier one so you can walk around the property, catch the sunset, and be back in the city by 10:30pm. Have a drink on the terrace (get an Old Fashioned - they use a local Bourbon!).

It's prix fixe, but you can go on Sunday and do the 4-course tasting brunch for almost half the price. Bon appetit!

Additional note: We just dined here for my birthday dinner and we highly recommend sharing the 8-course meal (they offer a 3-course and 5-course option as well). We sat at the bar and got to hang with the staff as this is a leisurely evening (it took us 3 and a half hours to complete). The waiter told us if you come in the middle of the week you can often get a seat at the bar without a reservation. Go back often as the menu changes daily!
