Looking to getaway to somewhere fun, affordable, and relaxing? Try Isla Verde! It's less than a 4 hour flight from NY, you don't need your passport or to change currency, and the time zone is the same. We booked a package hotel and flight deal through Orbitz.We stayed at The Ritz-Carlton and highly recommend it for its elegance, private beach front, impeccable service, fabulous pool/jacuzzi, casino (for those who care), live music in the lounge, and amazing breakfast buffet. Another hotel option we'd recommend is La Concha in Condado for its trendiness and super-sexy appeal (it's also off the beach, has an amazing pool, and great hotel bar).
Things you must do while there:
1. See Old San Juan on Segways
2. Eat at Tantra (this little gem sits square in the middle of Old San Jaun's restaurant row and the menu combines Indian and Caribbean flavors)
3. Go nighttime kayaking on the Bioluminescent Bay (a truly brilliant natural wonder, particularly on moonless nights, literally glows in the dark BUT wear long sleeves and pants or lots of bug spray as we left the bay looking like mojito mosquitoes!).
