We've been blogging about where to rent bikes, get bikes for free and the best bike trails but now it is your chance to get involved and do something good for our bike-friendly city. Recycle-a-Bicycle was founded in 1999 and is an organization with multiple missions. They have two bike shop locations (East Village and Dumbo) where bikes are sold for $200-$400. Wednesday is volunteer night where people gather to help repair the 1,200 used bikes that New Yorkers donate each year. They also partner with several New York City public schools where they run a series of bike-maintenance courses for 14-18 year olds. Teens who make their way through these programs can apply to intern at one of Recycle-a-Bicycle's retail locations.

All this talk about bikes reminded us about Car-Free Park Avenue! Check out the last of the three Saturdays on August 22 from 7am-1pm.
