WK's pick:Bring your bikes on the free ferry to Governor's Island or rent them when you arrive. The Bike and Roll kiosk is located behind Building 140, to the left of the ferry landing as you arrive on the Island. They offer bikes for free for one hour on Friday!
Luckily, this place is still underdeveloped so enjoy the bank-free, drugstore-free area. Though they have some food vendors, you're better off packing your own picnic. Go now while it's still not crowded. If you're on twitter, follow Governor's Island for updates on special events.
